USA and India are new partners, and it appears that two democracies are converging and collaborating like never before, and their common interests make it look like a win win situation for both. Many in India have felt that China and India relationship can take the region to a new level, that Indo China partnership can provide each other huge markets, but for various reasons this scenario is highly unlikely, the most important stumbling block is not the boundary issue, but China's affinity to Pakistan.
It appears that USA is addressing this issue and tackling it head on, US Pakistan ties are being reformatted and USA is giving India its due importance in South Asian region. This has created huge goodwill in India for USA and erase whatever memories of highly public fracas over Devyani Khobragade issue. With India MEA booting out Sujatha Singh, it appears that contentious issues between USA and India have been dusted under the carpet.
Modi's make in India campaign is a path to increase manufacturing in India, it might not compare with manufacturing success of China in even mid term future, but USA's investment can surely make Modi's dream for India come true. Modi is not making populist policies, he is making much needed course corrections for economy that come with bitter pill for Indians in immediate times but are harbinger of good things to come in future.
India USA partnership can certainly define this century, and this opportunity must not be missed, I am not betting on USA to walk the extra mile, but I am betting on Modi to make USA walk the extra mile to make sure India is the success story of these times and leave an imprint on history that would be remarkable.
